Saturday 26th April was our Senior Club Supper & Awards Evening.
We had a fantastic turnout to celebrate the end of our Centenary Season.
The awards presented were as follows:
We also introduced a new Player's award this year, "Spirit of the Game" award, which is for a player who has at all times been a fantastic team mate, player, and club man. Has always done everything asked, played wherever and for whoever and upheld the values of the game. Our first ever recipient of the award is Matt Harris.
Our "Clubman of the Year" award which is given to someone who has contributed a lot to the club over the course of the year has been renamed the "Peter Lipscomb Clubman of the Year" in recognition of Club legend Peter who sadly passed away late last year. His wife Libby and his family have generously had a Cup commissioned which will be on display at Woollams. The first recipient of the new "Peter Lipscomb Clubman of the Year" is our Mini Chair, Tom Oliver.
This year's Ellis Cup, goes to Romans Head Coach, Eddie Panting. Over the years Eddie has played through the Junior Section before appearing for over a decade for the 1st XV before moving into coaching. Eddie has worked with our juniors, as YDO, worked as a coach developer and more recently has become part of our Senior Coaching Team.
The Nigel Cartwright Team of Year award had a number of strong candidates including our Senior Saints Teams, the Under 18 Saints, Men's 1st XV. However, this year's award goes to the Grizzlies after a great season in their 25th year, culminating in winning a thrilling Cup Final yesterday and potentially adding a league win too.
