Old Albanian Saints 2XV turned on the style at Woollams, running in eight tries to record a 52–14 victory over Sudbury in the opening fixture of Sunday’s home double-header.
The Saints’ blend of experience and youthful energy proved too much for the visitors, with Maisie Herbert (2), Jess Wood, Liv Westbrook, Emily Eves, Madison Lawrence, and Eve Slater (2) all crossing the whitewash. Eves was clinical from the tee, slotting six conversions to round off a dominant attacking display.
Captain for the day, Liv Westbrook, led by example — commanding in defence and sharp in support — and capped her performance with a well-deserved try. Forward of the Match went to Lucy Dale for her tireless work at the breakdown, while Back of the Match was awarded to Eve Slater, who marked her senior debut with two superb tries. Having come through the Junior Saints pathway, it was a fitting return to Woollams for Slater and a glimpse of what’s to come from the winger.
The result capped off a huge weekend for the club, with all six senior sides victorious. In the Junior section, the Junior Saints U18s also triumphed 24–5 over local rivals Fullerians in their National Cup tie.
The 2XV now have a week off before travelling to Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 19th October in Round 3 of Championship 2 Midlands.
