Man of the match:
The first match of the season saw the OAs run out comfortable 7-3 winners against a spirited Saracens side.
OAs took a very early lead with Seb scoring immediately from kick off only for Saracens to respond with 2 tries of their own showing extreme pace down the right flank that OAs could not live with.
The first half was a very hard fought contest with OAs starting to play to their patterns towards the end of the half, Mylo & Tom Fielden orchestrating their back line with increasing confidence. A late score in the first half by Seb brought the scores level to go into half time.
With the off season cobwebs blown away and some coaching direction at half time, OAs came out in the 2nd half, upped their tempo and line speed to score 4 unanswered tries – man of the match Freddie Ford, trusted his pace and took Saracens on the outside to score an early season hat trick.
The OAs back line worked wonders with Seb and Fred linking up well, drawing defenders and creating room for Freddie to score his tries in the corner. A delightful chip from Tom to Freddie half way through the second half enabled Freddie to complete his scoring for the day.
The OAs scrum by now was performing better as the front row got lower and more than held their own against bigger opposition. Ethan scored a well worked try in the left hand corner to make the scoring 6-2, before a late rally from Saracens brought the score back to 6-3 before a piece of individual brilliance by Toby, who chipped the ball over the oncoming defenders, collected his own kick and completed the scoring at 7-3.
A great start to the season.
