OA Saints yesterday hosted a tournament for local women’s rugby teams, welcoming players from Tabard, Welwyn, Harlow and Cuffley to Woollams on a beautiful autumn day. The triangular tournament saw Saints take on a combined Harlow/Cuffley team, followed by a combined Tabard/Welwyn team, before the visitors played each other in the final match of the day. The aim was to provide as much game time as possible for all players, and Saints would especially like to thank the players from other teams who were prepared to help out and even up numbers.
Saints opened the afternoon with a win over Harlow/Cuffley 24-5 and followed that up by beating Tabard/Welwyn 14-7. For more photos see our facebook page here.
The combined Tabard/Welwyn team rounded their day off with a hard-fought win against Harlow/Cuffley, 14-10.
In their next league match, Saints take on Hammersmith and Fulham (away) and are back at Woollams on 15th November to play Beckenham – all supporters welcome.
Saints are always looking for new players so if you would like to give rugby a go then come along to Woollams on a Monday or Wednesday evening and give it a try!
