On Saturday 14th March 2015, Old Albanian RFC are holding the 9th annual Memorial Day for our dear friend and team mate Georgie Robinson. Georgie was tragically killed in a car crash in South Africa on 24th October 2006 at the age of 28. Georgie was the OA Saints 2XV Captain and a very valued member of our club.
Each year the OA Saints play a game against the British Army Ladies 1XV and try their best to raise as much money for charities close to Georgie’s heart.
This year, we will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Friends of the Saints Charities. The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity close to Georgie’s family.
Alzheimer’s Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Alzheimer’s Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Society’s fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our network of local services, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Through campaigning and lobbying we strive to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and the people who care for them. And through our research programme we work to improve the knowledge we have about dementia and its treatment – and pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
Throughout the day there are many opportunities to have some fun, watch some top flight rugby and drink a toast to our greatly missed Saint.
A pre-match lunch will be held at 1pm before the Old Albanian 1XV take on Macclesfield RFC at 3pm. The OA Saints play The Army Ladies at 5pm. A raffle, silent auction, cake sale, and disco are just a few things that will be happening throughout the day.
If you are interested in booking a place at the pre-match lunch, please contact
