A tardy but important post…….on a day typified by steamy breath from the early evening, following a !st XV win against Fylde and an England triumph against Argentina, the U10s took the battle to the Hertford Floodlit Festival.
Initially players and parents all felt this was something of a novelty. Rugby on a Saturday…..in the evening…..under floodlights? Once the squad witnessed the level of organisation, coaching quality and discipline, any apprehension and concept of pure novelty soon disappeared – this was serious competition…..
The standard of rugby was very high with some well drilled and committed opposition. Our players performed exceptionally well with 75% of matches won and scores at a premium. Team play, rucking and offloading in particular were superb, all the more impressive with one just off a plane from Chicago.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening and boys and parents went home justifiably proud. A huge thanks to coaches Iain Bowler and David Mason for organising the squad and for giving up their Saturday night.
