Last weekend was a busy weekend of for the under 9’s with teams attending festivals at Windsor, Bedford and the inaugural development festival at Woollams. This was attended by teams from Harpenden, Beaconsfield, Watford and Amersham, the day proved the perfect antidote to the disappointment of Saturday night’s big RWC game. The sun shone, the pitches were in a lovely condition and with loads of great rugby on show, our young players proving a great advert for the game. Most games were finely balanced and over the morning as the competition hotted up so did the standard of rugby.
One team headed to Windsor to compete against 12 other sides. The team performed fantastically well and all of the games were very tight. The team ended up finishing 4th.
Finally we had 2 teams make the journey up to Bedford to attend a well organised festival. Both sides played in some great games and only 3 tries were conceded across both teams. One team won their league with out loosing a match and the other came runner up after loosing their final game.
Considering these festivals were the first ever contact events the teams had attending the boys deserve massive praise as they tackled hard and put into practice everything they had been taught on the training ground over the past couple of weeks. Well done to all of the boys!
