No rest for the under 9’s as we headed to 3 festivals again last weekend. We attended events at Rosslyn Park, Warlingham and Bishop Stortford. The boys at Rosslyn Park started off slowly and lost their first game but turned it around and were unbeaten from then on, they made the third place play off and went on to win this game to confirm 3rd overall. The team at Bishop Stortford also started slowly but got better and better with every game. There was great try line defence when needed and some amazing tackling from all of the team. The boys ended winning 3 of the 4 games and won the plate. The final team played at Warlingham a new festival for us with our first international opposition in Stade Francais. The first match was against the hosts, the boys came out on fire playing some of the best rugby the coaches has seen with dogged defence and attacks using the width of the pitch we ran out winning 4-2. After a short turn round we then faced Rosslyn Park, this turned out to be more exciting and nerve racking than the first game but saw us winning 4-3. Next game was against the French side which turned into a very physical contest but again we won 2-1. The boys entered the final game knowing that a draw was enough to win the tournament, the boys still played some fantastic rugby and there were some moments of brilliance that left the spectators with their jaws wide open and it all made for an exciting and tense end to the days rugby. The final result was OAs 4 – Bromley 0.
