U12s win at the Tring festival

On a fresh spring day in Tring, OAs U12 As played their last festival of the season. We were missing a few key members of the team such as Guy Butterworth our scrum half, Alex Harris and Ryan Docherty from the pack, however we were delighted to welcome back Will Monk, who had badly broken his wrist just after Christmas and looked fit and rearing to go.
In our first game we faced Camelot. We won the game 30-0 with excellent all round performances including a hat trick of tries from Jack Cobb. However we were not playing up to our best and we knew we would have to raise our game to beat some of the stronger teams. Next up was Tring; a team that will be in our division next year. Our forwards stepped up their tempo giving the backs fast ball from rucks and we went onto win 15-0. Our toughest game came next against Saracens. With some excellent performances and strong carries from the pack, along with well-placed kicking from our fly half Tim Davies we managed to get a 5-0 lead late on in the game. Then, our defence was tested with players literally putting their bodies on the line to defy Saracens the opportunity to win. We managed to hold on resolutely to see out the game. Our last match was against Harpenden; who are always tough opponents. With some amazing speed and strength from our second row player Christian Cavalli-Warby, Harpenden opened the door to us and we went on to win the game 15-0. This was enough to win the tournament. Well done to all who played.

On behalf of all the players I would like to thank the coaches who have helped us through our time in mini rugby to grow into a strong team with great prospects for the league next year.
