OA U11s get the seal of approval from Will Greenwood

Our Under 11s all made the trip to Marlow on last Sunday for their first ever chance to face a club who compete strongly in the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire areas.  In another strong showing for the Woollams boys, they finished the morning unbeaten, conceding only 7 try’s across 6 matches.

Starting with our Wolfpack team; OAs faced a Marlow development team who also have a number of new starters this season.  2 competitive games ensued, with OAs coming out on top in both matches and only conceding 2 try’s all morning.

Our Lions and Sharks teams faced a good quality Marlow A team, and the Lions continued their strong season with a comprehensive win, while the Sharks drew and won.

Our Chiefs and Stormers squad put out 2 scratch teams against Marlow B.  In the first match, OAs recovered from a poor start to draw 2-2 with the levelling try coming from the very final play of the match. The second team started strongly with 4 unanswered try’s, but Marlow responded late in the second half with 2 well deserved consolation try’s.

As a extra bonus for the players, the matches were watched by England World Cup winner Will Greenwood, who has a long relationship with Marlow Rugby Club.  Will was good enough to speak to the players afterwards, sign shirts and have his photo taken.  Afterwards, Will tweeted some very kind compliments to the quality of the OA players… a real class act.

Many thanks to Giles and his team at Marlow U11s for a great morning of rugby between two great clubs, and we look forwards to welcoming you all to Woollams soon.

Old Albanian Under 11s are a mini rugby team for Year 6 children.  Some of our players are now in their 6th season of playing rugby having played tag rugby from the age of 5 and contact rugby as Under 9s. Other players are just discovering the joys of rugby…  Whatever the skill and experience of a player, everyone is welcome.

We currently have spaces to offer, and we are especially keen to recruit players who are new to rugby, or are not currently existing members of another local club.  Parents of players interested in joining should make contact with the Head Coach. Membership forms and fees for joining OAJRFC are available on the “Joining OAJRFC” page.
