OA’s Under 11s arrived at Bishops Stortford with a new look team, school commitments meant that a number of boys were making their debut for the first team. They quickly got in to their running with comfortable wins against Hertford II, Upminster and Bishop’s Stortford II. The last game of the group stage which would decide who made the final was against local rivals Harpenden who had also coasted to victory in all their first three group matches. In an incredibly hard fought and very physical match OAs eventually came out on top 3 tries to 1.
In the final OAs met festival hosts Bishop’s Stortford who had also won all their group matches. In a pulsating, nail biting final OA’s claimed an early try before Bishop’s Stortford equalised late in the second half. With just seconds remaining quick passing and great support play resulted in OAs going over in the corner to seal a great victory.
…strong performances by the Chiefs and Wolfpack
Elsewhere this weekend the Chiefs squad, also missing key players due to school commitments, entertained Datchworth for a morning of friendly fixtures at Woollams. 2 closely fought matches with great attacking play from both sides ended up with honours even. These 2 sides that will surely compete closely with each other for honours this season.
Our Wolfpack team travelled to Hertford for a session of joint training and friendly matches. The Wolfpack had a very successful morning, and our new players are settling in nicely. As always, great hospitality was on offer from our friends at Hoe Lane.
