Another great weekend of Rugby for U9’s

Guys we had another busy weekend last saturday + sunday and we had 8 teams spread over 4 venues over 2 days and it was again a testament to the support and enthusiasm of our volunteer coaches refs etc and you, our parents, that we were able to play so much rugby which is great at this early stage in the season and before the weather starts turning.

Neil and Brent led a group of greens and golds to Fullerians floodlight fest on saturday nite. This was billed as a development fest and above all a bit of fun. It sounds like some of the club’s attending loaded their sides with A+B players which isn’t really the form but nevertheless our players had a good nite and scored plenty of tries and made lots of tackles. They are asking when can we host our own floodlit fest!

We sent two teams to the letchworth fest on sunday. our reds put in another tigerish‎ display and beat some good sides and ran Royston A and Letchworth A close for the cup, ultimately coming in an honourable 3rd behind 2 very good and well organised A teams.

Our green side played well all day and we’re deserved winners of the Plate and collected ‎the Greens first silverware of the season.

At Maidenhead Fest our Reds team on show put in a series of very impressive performances and won the Reds 2nd trophy of the season with another hard tackling strong running display.

The blues team had a winner takes all game v Reading Abbey in their final game in the A competition, alas this proved to be one game too many and indiscipline cost the boys a final victory.

So another impressive series of results and a few lessons to be learnt around keeping our focus at fests and most importantly keeping our discipline( more to follow on this point later in the week).

We have another busy weekend ahead of us with ‎a blue and red team at the allianz fest on sat am ahead of the sarries v clermont game which will be an exciting day out.

We have a number of our green and our golds going to the stortford dev fest on saturday am and early pm.

On sunday we have 1 blue team at the stortford A fest and then a blue + red + green team at the reading rfc fest.

Your band managers are confirming numbers as we speak and can you please confirm your players availability as soon as you can to help us make sure we have good competitive groups going to every fest.

This will be our last big weekend of fest rugby until the spring and we hope the players enjoy this opportunity to get lots of festival rugby in and enjoy playing a wide variety of opposition that we don’t often come across on the local circuit.

Cheers steve
