OA Chiefs win the Plate in the mud
OA Chiefs were put in Pool 2 alongside Colchester, Woodford, Braintree, Upminster and Westcliff, and got off to a great start by beating Woodford 4-0. The defence was very solid and they controlled the game to a comfortable victory.
Next, the Chiefs were up against Braintree, a very big side that had a solid defence with good passing and movement. OAs were 1-0 up at half time but unfortunately switched off at the restart to allow Braintree to equalise. The game was very even from this point forward but Braintree managed to score again to win the match.
OAs lifted themselves for the next match to beat Upminster 6-1. A great performance again showing solid defence and growing in confidence in passing and movement.
Next up was Colchester and OAs confidence continued to soar as they beat Colchester 6-1.
The final pool game was against Westcliffe which OAs won 4-0.
This left OAs second in the group behind Braintree, and qualifying for the Plate final against Bishop Stortford.
OAs got off to strong start continuing with the strong defence and getting more and more confident in passing and movement. OAs controlled the game throughout and always looked like they would win the match. OAs comfortably won the final 6 -2.
It was a great performance; the movement, tackling, passing and running improved significantly during the tournament. The team interplay was very impressive, especially considering the conditions.
Well done Chiefs!!!
