OAs dominated this game from start to finish but found it uncharacteristically difficult to convert this dominance on to the scoreboard. Despite a huge territorial advantage throughout the game, it was only in the last five minutes that OAs ran in two tries to give the scoreline a more comfortable look.
The truth is this was a game that was in the balance for a long period of time due to numerous try scoring opportunities being squandered. This was in part down to a lack of concentration at vital moments by OAs, but also because of the outstanding last ditch defence mounted by Winchester. There were at least six magnificent try saving tackles made by Winchester when an OA score seemed certain.
In the end, the wave after wave of OA attacks took their toll, and four tries were scored by Luke Atkinson-Coyle (x2), Calvin Hibbard & Jonny Olive; with Jonny Olive adding two conversions.
The players now feel they have a real chance to go a long way in this competition, and eagerly await the draw for the next round which will be played on Sunday 5th March.
