OA u18 Colts travelled to Ipswich in the 4th round of the National Cup on 31st January, and met stiff opposition from a determined and committed Ipswich side. The first half saw Ipswich tackling like men possessed and constantly challenging for possession at the breakdown. In atrocious conditions, OAs found it very hard to establish any sort of field position, and the pressure exerted by Ipswich brought a couple of penalties to leave the half time score at 0-6 to the home side.
The feeling at half time was that Ipswich would struggle to maintain the level of intensity shown in the first half, and this proved to be correct as wave after wave of OA runners finally broke through the spirited Ipswich defence. Four tries were scored in the second half through Tom Johnson, James Gallagher, Alex Willis and Alex Rich; with Will Sherwood adding one conversion, to leave the final score at 22-6 to OAs.
OAs now eagerly anticipate the draw for the next round (last 16) which will be played on Sunday 21st February.
