OA Colts bow out of National Cup

OA Colts lost narrowly today away at Brentwood by just 11-10. The bitter disappointment of defeat was sweetened only slightly by the knowledge that the players gave everything they had to give.

Looking back, the OAs lost it during the first half when, playing with the elements, they were unable to convert a number of gilt-edged opportunities and reached half time just 5-0 to the good. Despite this, OAs were still leading 10-8 with just one minute to go when a “50-50” penalty was converted from the half way line by the Brentwood centre. This was a bitter pill to swallow for OAs having played some great rugby and had plenty of opportunities to put the match beyond doubt.

Good luck to Brentwood who defended resolutely and played intelligently throughout – it will take a good side to beat them now in this competition.
