U9s Bs finish on a high at Bedford

The U9s B team started amazingly well in their first festival of the season at Bedford on Sunday 2nd October, winning against Hemel Hempstead 3-6. The team showed great strength, speed and tackling skills against another strong side. There was plenty of team spirit and they supported each other well.

The team’s second match was a game of run away tries! They had a very convincing win against Old Northamptonians, almost every boy scoring a try. The final score was 10-0 to OAs. There was great passing and very fast running.

After winning the previous game with ease, the third match came as a bit of a shock as they played Harpenden who came on very strong and scored the only try in the first half. OAs fought through several minor injuries and gained an equaliser in the second half. There were some great tackles with several turn overs. Final score 1-1.

OAs final match was against a very strong home team. Bedford Blues took an early lead and at half time the score stood at 0-3 to Bedford. OAs came back on much more organised and very determined! They scored three tries quickly by working together with several very fast runs. The final minutes showed outstanding determination to gain one more try to win the game. Emotions were high and the boys first contact tournament ended with a superb finish. 4-3 to OAs!

Overall, the boys showed great team work and much camaraderie. They represented the club well and really enjoyed their first contact tournament in the sunshine at Bedford. Many thanks to all those that organised this event.
