The New Campaign.

The end of season break is over at Woollams and Old Albanian RFC are now back hard at work to get ready for the new season, this time in National Two South. This league will be combative to say the least but OAs know it well and have played most of the clubs at this level many times before. This breeds confidence before the campaign begins in September.

Most of the squad has remained in harness for the coming battles and newcomers will be highlighted as preparations move on. However it is certainly appropriate to emphasise that new players will be made very welcome regardless of age or ability. Top quality sport and a great social scene awaits anyone who comes to club training 7.00 for 7.30 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

A fine level of coaching is available at these times provided by Head Coach James Shanahan ably assisted by Sam Townsend. James is also the Cambridge University Coach and Assistant Coach to the highly successful England Counties setup and this coupled with his two year coaching stint in the Championship will be of tremendous value to Albanians in the coming months.

Naturally the Saints (OAs Ladies) will be similarly delighted to welcome new players of all ages and abilities. The female club take a pride in offering top quality Rugby to girls and ladies from three to sixty three! The first team was unbeaten in their league last season and narrowly missed promotion in the playoffs. Not to be left out, the Junior section have two of their young stars getting ready for Development Training with the England U18 side.

So whether you’re a player or supporter you won’t find a better place for Rugby!
